An ex colleague and GSM (Malaya) holder lives not more than 12 miles from me he showed me a medal he received from The Sultan of Johore for his work with The Sue Ryder Foundation in Malaya in the late 50's. The Sultan awarded him his Coronation Medal, he fought tooth and nail to have permission to wear the medal.
Here are two letters from The Foreign Relations Office authorised by HM The Queen for Lloyd to wear this medal unrestricted
You will note the difference between the two, it appears to be a bog standard letter where the first letter shows the details appended, typewriters were never the same as computers! It must therefore be assumed that more than one Medal was given UNRESTRICTED wear to have a letter already typed out with further details to add as appropriate.
Lloyd will shortly have The PJM, he already has the GSM (Malaya) and The Coronation Medal (A Foreign Medal from the same State of Malaysia), he may wear the latter two but not the PJM, how crazy is this Non Wearing Rule by The HD Committee?
