Pingat Jasa Malaysia (PJM) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I have obtained your email address from [.........insert source..................] and I am writing to you about the above medal. Please forgive this unannounced intrusion but we are trying contact everyone who may be eligible for this Malaysian medal. If my message is unwelcome, please destroy it - I shall not, of course, contact you again. I write to ask if you would take just a few minutes to visit our website at http://www.fight4thePJM.org where we are fighting the British Government to reverse their decision to withhold formal permission for British citizens to wear the PJM. We are seeking your support! Our web site objectives: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - We are veterans fighting for the right to wear a medal. The King and Government of Malaysia have awarded a medal, the Pingat Jasa Malaysia (Malaysian Service Medal) to Commonwealth forces and civilians who served their country to protect its newly won independence against aggression and terrorism. The Queen and head of the Commonwealth has granted Australian and New Zealand citizens the right to wear the medal but has been instructed to withhold that same right from her British citizens. The British Imperial Honours System has been invoked in order to try and justify that shameful decision. Our web site publicises our view that British citizens should be able to wear their medal alongside their Commonwealth friends who can do so with pride. Web site authors and contributors: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - We are a group of veterans who served in Malaya and Borneo between 1957 and 1966 - ageing pensioners who just want to be there on Remembrance Day and ANZAC Day, remembering those who lost their lives in past conflicts, wearing with pride our Malaysian Medal (known as the PJM) beside our Commonwealth friends who are already wearing the award for the same service.
