In view of the content of the Dewputy High Commissioner's article in The Star on the 26th August, it was considered appropriate to lodge a formal complaint with the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur.

The article was an official statement that in our view misleads Malaysians and veterans into believing that the Queen has approved the PJM for wear by British citizens (the DHC distinguishes between civilans and military for some unaccountable reason). In any event this is not true - yet. If it were to be true (and when it is true) we shall all pack our bags and go home. Until then we are investing considerable time and resources into this campaign and we're not about to allow the FCO to undermine that work.

The fact of the matter is simple. The Queen has approved the acceptance of the PJM by British citizens but on condition that they do not wear it. That remains the situuation.

Our campaign is about providing the facts to counter the myths and spin that were devised by a few civil servants to produce that restriction - a restriction made all the more stark in the context that the Queen has given permission for the other Commonwealth countries to both accept and wear the PJM.
