Herewith today's letter which focuses on a statement made by both Denis Brennan (Cabinet office and HD Committee member), and Chris Edge (the FCO senior civil servant in the Honours Secretariat).

They say our honourable PJM "compromises previous awards and the integriry of the system". Err ... don't think so!

KNOWING WHAT IS IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN, REGARDING HONOURS, I WOULD SUGGEST THE MAIN THING THAT HAS BEEN COMPROMISED, IS THE 'INTEGRITY OF THE SYSTEM' ITSELF! YOU HAVE HAVE ALL THIS DOUBLE SPEAK,AND WHAT IS BEING UNEARTHED,JUST GOES TO SHOW HOW ROTTEN THE WHOLE ISSUE IS NOW ,AND PROBABLY HAS BEEN FOR GOD ONLY KNOWS,OUR MEDAL IS FREE, FROM A GRATEFUL COUNTRY, FOR SERVICES RENDERED,AND CERTAINLY NOT SOMETHING' CURRIED UP FOR A TAKE AWAY' Wink

At least our medal is FREE, we didn't have to pay for it, like some others who appear to be compromising the integrity of the Honours system. Goodness me, there's that word again - integrity.

Do "they" really know what it means?
