Signing up
I sign up. yet again.
Mind you, I'll sign anything so long as it is not a cheque or a confession.
Arthur Rambart-Spicer. - Jack Dusty of that parish.
HMS Mull of Kintyre, for a couple of weeks bed and board, then HMS Manxman.
Can I mention two weeks leave in the White Highlands, or doesn't that count.

Gentlemen, we are supposed to be fighting the Government and it's ridiculous stance towards the PJMers, not each other.
Let's keep it civil please, or the Government might successfully exploit any cracks in our wall of defence.

Re sign up
I was in 3E2 mess on the old N70, and for the first time in my life I had a hammock.
The first time I used it, I forgot I was in it at call the hands, and not my usual lower bunk.
Stepping neatly out I dropped to the floor with one hell of a thump.
You can imagine the ribald comments of my mess mates.
Oh well, any one can make a mistake, as the male hedgehog said to the toilet brush as it dismounted.

Dear MB,
So that's what we were in. How odd! I could have sworn that I had joined the Merchant Navy. Seriously though, we all played our part, whether it was in direct contact with the enemy, or in the support role. All of us contributed to the finish of the confrontation and allowed a proud and honourable people to determine it's own future. Let us not lose sight of that fact.
That His Majesty, The Agong of Malaysia, has chosen to honour us by way of the Pingat Jasa Malaysia, makes me proud to have been a part of the support and that the loss of life on our side, although terrible and unneccessary, was not as high as it could have been, because we all pulled together for the common cause, to minimise it.
Unfortunately, sailors have the habit of claiming that their own particular ships, were the best in the fleet - etc. etc. etc. Being a very close knit community they take a particular pride in that fact. Like the Royal Air Force and it's aeroplanes, and the Army with it's own machines, and quite rightly so.
We all love our own particular mode of transport getting us to the centre of attention, so it is only natural that we all defend our particular corner.
Don't let it phase you mate
Yours Aye
Arthur
