I think you are right it looks genuine.
Well there are two types of people who will buy it collectors and the low lifes who are not entitled to wear it. I'm sure those who are entitled to the real thing would rather wait to have it presented, "FORMALLY".

I don't know how he has the audacity to even think of selling his medal. Has he no shame, or didn't he really deserve one! Doesn't sound as if he did. They are priceless and a great honour to have.

On the other hand, according to the various members of HMG and their civil servants, 'Tis only a souvenir and a trinket.

But then, "they" are without shame or honour.

John, Lennie,

I have now had the opportunity to research this medal that is for sale.

It is not genuine. It is a replica and it was made in a factory in Johore Bahru called Elitkraf. This company does manufcature medals (I think for the state) but the one the Holditch is selling has 'REPLICA' stamped on the rim and the name of the manufacturer on the sudpender bar.

Post Elitkraf
Barry, regarding this 'Replica' medal for sale ::

My medal sits proudly in a box bearing the name Elitkraf, and if by 'suspender bar' you mean the pin attached to the ribbon, then the name also appears there. So apart from having the word 'Replica' stamped around the edge, they appear to be virtually the same. I know my medal is genuine, because it came from the Malaysian High Commission in London. If this Johore Bahru company are producting both genuine and replica medals then they should be bloody well ashamed of themselves. I wonder if the Malaysian Government are aware that this company are making more money by selling replicas of what is, in fact, a priceless object.

Tony

Post PJM Replica
For those of you who want to buy a replica instead of using the medal presented to them, Award Productions have just produced one with the palm fronds the right way round. This is to replace the one originally sold that was wrong (some may say). All in all you cannot tell the difference between this one and the real thing. www.awardmedals.com
