Barry, I represent my branch of the RBL with several stalwarts at the repatriations through Wootten Bassett ( I live nearby) at almost every occasion and it is evident that the PJM is held in high regard as the number worn increases with every parade.

I fervently wish though that this particular parade was not so regular as it is. The families of the deceased are brought to the town by the RAF and they do appreciate the numbers who drop everything in order to show their respects to fallen comrades.

Whilst it is the most difficult thing to attend it is also the most heartening to see all those veterans and citizens of the area (and from far and wide) turn up in all weathers and stand for ages just to pay their respects. The Regiments and units of the personnel involved also turn out in uniform in large numbers and we get many addresses for shoe box delivery that way. They say that they are most appreciated and one Commanding Officer told us 'it is better than a parcel or letter from home as it shows that people do care', so if anyone wants to send a parcel for Christmas I have the contacts to share.

John
