John, are you sure this is the right time to strike?

Won't they be having their tea then?

Shocked

Thanks Paul, we'll add you to the list.

In addition to the wearable medals commemorating various sovereigns' birthdays and coronations, a key one for our argument is the Russian "40th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War Medal". Originally offered in 1985 (oddly), "permission was not granted for it to be accepted and worn at that time" - note the MOD Veterans Agency wording. Also oddly, Russia was still part of the USSR.

Some years later the Russians tried again and "in 1994 The Queen granted permission for this medal to be accepted and worn by eligible British citizens. This was considered acceptable in the light of changed circumstances in Russia since the medal was first issued". Now, call me Mr Cynical if you must, but the change of heart had nothing to do with no USSR but an independent Russia with plenty of dirty weaponry, lotsa dodgy nuclear reactors, more diamonds than you can shake a fist at, roubles galore and available as fast as they can be roneo'd off, and any number of wannabe football club owners, did it?

You will see from the MOD VA wording that this medal was directly linked to a political decision!

The only difference between the considerations applying in 1985 and 1994 were the changed circumstances of Russia!!!!

So why does HMG have such a low regard for Malaysia. Is it because Malaysia doesn't have the same clout as Russia, not as many dirty nuke's, or maybe not as near to us as to make us feel uncomfortable?

Yes, PJM’ers - you are denied your civil liberties, you are denied your past service to Malaysia, and you are denied the right to wear the PJM for two reasons - a cock-up and a cocked gun:

a) the MOD reps on the HD Committee did not brief the HD Committee correctly (they got double meddaling wrong), and

b) the gracious Malaysian people are seen by the blind HMG not to be worrying enough to the UK.

It's as basic and as simple as that.

That’s why we’re angry - and that’s why we’ll have one more fight.

Barry

PS To the Malaysians who I know read this web site: We who served Malaysia do not share the same shameful view as our Government. And to demonstrate that, we'll wear our PJM's with pride whatever HMG may think. And, when we're wearing our medal (for thousands it will be their only medal despite what HMG tell you), we’ll be thinking of our service to Malaysia and our comrades-in-arms who served there, were wounded there, and died there.

I'm just waiting to hear from my MP, John. As soon as I know his plans, we can sort out a Zap'em Day. I don't want to tread on his toes.

And yes ... we'll keep it rolling.
