The Labour MP quoted, Russell Brown, has not been helping with our campaign in the past and it was on his watch that Gurden Broon and Jack the Straw supported the non-wear rule but now he is jumping on the bandwagon and trying to score brownie (sic) points. However, it is nice that he is supporting us now.

Re "Malayan medal misery" (News, DGS, Friday 6 August 2010). The situation with the Pingat Jasa Malaysia medal and the no-wear ruling for British veterans is ludicrous. Australians wear theirs with pride, one of the first to do so being the Governor-General of Australia at the time of the inception of the medal, Major General Philip Jeffery, AC, CVO, MC whose entitlement was gained as a young RAE officer serving in Sabah during Confrontation.

But those times are past, why are the Malaysian people now denied the full acceptance of their grateful thanks and why is it the veteran group that is punished? It is not just a medal, it is the thanks of the nation they aided and that will give any ex-serviceperson a boost to their morale, trust me (and it's cheaper than money). The petulant Civil Servants who deny them this should be given an altogether different sort of boost. But please, don't transport them. We've had enough already and we've only just house-broken our own lot.

I have just E mailed Patricia, to thank Her for the Article she has just written, the more she digs, the more it stinks....Also explained that it was a "Joint Effort" Army, Navy, Air Force, Ghurkha's, Police, Women as well as Men, even W.R.V.S. if I remeber right in "Labuan"

As with any good conjuror, slight of hand is of paramount importance. So! With that in mind, how then can they say that they have never received the rebuttal, and in same breath, say they have lost it.

Do you get the feeling that the civil serpents have been economical with the truth. After all under the new policy of governmental saving, saving face isn't one of them, and economy with the truth is definately not another.

I would suggest that the civil service starts to clean up it's rotten act, before the final curtain is pulled down on them.

Got to get the memsahib her tea, so I'll shove off now.

Yep....and the WRVS were very active in Malaya in the 50s, as well as the Salvation Army (Sally Army).
